Preparing for Hurricane Florence

*  Please stay off the roads during and after the storm.  Do not leave your house right after the storm ends to go sight seeing or shopping.  Give emergency personnel a chance to clean up storm damage before you venture out.

* Unless it is an emergency, please do not call the Police Department to check on road conditions.  They are busy handling emergency situations and do not have time for traffic reports.

*  If you lose power or any other services, please
DO NOT call the Police Department or Public Works Department.  Call your service provider:

Residence Check

The Whispering Pines Police Department offers a Residence Check service to residents.  When you are going to be away from your home an officer will check your residence daily to ensure the house is secure.  Officers will pick up packages that were delivered while the resident is gone and hold them at the police department until their return.  Officers will also pick up any newspapers, but we do not hold them.  We do not pick up any mail from your mailbox. To request this free service please complete a residence check form and drop it off at the police department.

Register Your Property

The Whispering Pines Police Department encourages all residents to use this FREE online system that will help keep track of valuable --- and invaluable --- personal property. ReportIt is a FREE, secure online service allowing residents to record serial numbers and upload images for phones, electronics, and other valuables. Should those items ever be stolen, having this information will go a long way in accurately and quickly identifying your property.

Reportit.leadsonline.com helps the Village of Whispering Pines residents to safely and securely store important information that is useful in recovering property in the event of a loss or theft.

If you continue to need assistance feel free to contact Lt. Rodney Dozier at 949-9961.

Prescription Medicine Disposal

Residents can drop off their prescription pills on Monday through Friday between the hours of 8AM-4:30PM.

The Whispering Pines Police Department has been authorized by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to become a local collection site for unwanted or outdated Pharmaceutical drugs (controlled substances) that are no longer needed. There will be a large metal drop box labeled “Prescription Medicine Disposal Only” placed inside the police department lobby to assist residents with disposing of any prescription pills that are no longer needed. We are asking that residents empty their pill bottles into a large zip-lock bag and bring the sealed zip-lock bag to the police department. The resident can then place the zip-lock bag into the drop box.

(Please make sure to only submit pills and do not include chemicals, syringes, liquids, or vitamins, in the zip-lock bags.)

If you have any questions please contact Lt. Rodney Dozier at 949-9961
