With municipal campaigns, for the upcoming November election, in full swing now, campaign signs are popping up daily. Residents are reminded of the following regulations regarding the placement of political signs.

Chapter 11 of the Whispering Pines Land Development Ordinance states:

Signs erected in connection with elections or political campaigns are allowed in all districts, provided that:

*Such signs shall not be placed on any property, public or private, without the consent of the owner or occupant of the property; and

*Such signs shall not be located on any Village owned property, including without limitation street rights-of-way, municipal buildings, parks, lakes, or dams, except to the extent authorized by the Moore County Board of Elections when Village property is designated as a polling place.

Any signs placed on Village owned property, including the street right-of-way will be removed by Village staff. In regards to signs improperly placed on private property, the candidate will be notified and asked to immediately bring the sign into compliance with the ordinances.
