Village Stormwater Improvement Initiatives

In an effort to improve stormwater management in a couple of areas in the Village that have experienced flooding, the Village is taking action.

In the Arrowstone subdivision, the Village is currently working on deepening the existing stormwater retention pond on Spearhead Drive in the vicinity of Wheatfield Way. Based on recent soil borings, the Village Engineer recommended deepening the pond by 4 feet, which will significantly increase the maximum capacity. Our Public Works Director anticipates the project being complete by mid-July.

On Lakeview Drive in the vicinity of Dogwood Place, the Village has acquired two parcels of land in order to redirect stormwater and reduce flooding in the area of 64-71 Lakeview Drive. The plan calls for capturing stormwater from 9 Dogwood Place and redirecting it through 58 Lakeview Drive, then under Lakeview Drive to the Village Swim Park located at 57 Lakeview Drive. This project will begin in the next couple of weeks and will require some land clearing at both properties; but mostly at 58 Lakeview Drive.

In addition to the stormwater improvements, a portion of the 58 Lakeview Drive property will be used for additional parking to accommodate residents using the swim park across the street. The current parking area for the swim park is limited to 1-2 vehicles.
