In an effort to keep our residents better informed, the Village of Whispering Pines is utilizing a new notification system, CodeRed. A database has been created with existing published phone numbers for Village residents.  Click on the link https://public.coderedweb.com/cne/enUS/BF6B8557B45C to add or update contact information. Once you have opened the link to CodeRed, you may choose what method(s) you would like to receive notifications (unlisted numbers, mobile numbers, text, email, TDD/TTY requirements can all be entered.) This data base will be managed strictly by CodeRed. Please do not provide contact information to Village Hall.

The Village of Whispering Pines sponsors several social functions a year for the residents of the Village. The events are an Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July Celebration which includes a parade through the Village followed by an ice cream social at Thagard Park, a Halloween Party every year for our little trick-or-treaters at the Community Building on Rays Bridge Rd, two Outdoor Concerts and the Holiday Tree Lighting on the first weekend in Dec. at the Police/Fire complex where Santa also makes a visit with gifts for the little ones.

We hope to see you all at one or all of these events. We always need help with these activities and encourage young and seasoned volunteers to get involved. For more information or to volunteer, call 910-949-3141 x 11

June Buchele will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Whispering Pines Garden Club on the topic of “Growing Camellias in the Sandhills.”

For the past two years she and her husband have attended and participated as a Novice Judge in a number of camellia shows throughout the south. This year she will help judge four shows in South Carolina and Georgia, working toward becoming a fully Accredited Judge of the American Camellia Society.

Many of us have camellias, sasanquas, etc., in various colors and blooms, in our yards.  Ms. Buchele has a short powerpoint presentation and will give us good advice on how to make these lovely flowering shrubs healthier and even more beautiful!

Refreshments following the meeting.
