All trash cans, yard waste containers and recycling cans must be placed outside no later than 7:00am the day of scheduled pick up (or after 3pm the day before)

Recyclable  items  will  be  picked up  throughout  the Village on Thursdays.    All  acceptable items shall be

placed  loose,  not  bagged,  co-mingled  in  a  resident provided container, not exceeding 32 gallons in size. Moving cartons and boxes must be broken down and bundled.    Containers should be placed at the garage / near the house for pickup so that they are visible from the  street. 

The following items are accepted for unsorted recycling

  • Newspaper including all advertising inserts, magazines, brochures, catalogs, pamphlets, shredded paper (contained in paper bag and closed).
  • Brown paper bags.
  • Plastics - any color numbered 1 through 7.
  • Glass of any color, whole or broken.
  • Aluminum cans and aluminum foil tin or metal cans (food cans rinsed out).
  • Unwaxed cardboard like cereal, cracker, and pizza boxes whole and flattened.
  • Manuals with glue binding if less than 1 inch.
  • Soft and hard cover books if less than 1 inch.
  • Telephone books.
  • Cardboard moving boxes, broken down and tied with twine or taped.

The following items are NOT accepted for recycling

  • Plastic shrubbery pots.
  • Plastic items not marked with a recycle logo.
  • Tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, napkins.
  • Biological material or items contaminated with biological material or food.
  • Food, food packaging contaminated with food .
  • Styrofoam in any form such as packing peanuts, meat trays, cups and plates, etc.
  • Wax coated paper like milk or juice cartons.
  • Saran wrap and cellophane.
  • Ink cartridges.
  • Photographic paper or film including negatives, x-rays, MRI films, etc.
  • Hanging files, coat hangers, wire bound notebooks, or any kind of wire.
  • Rubber items including rubber bands and tires.
  • Clothing, rags, cloth items.
  • Appliances.
  • Furniture, wood or wooden items.
  • Pottery and ceramics including dishes.
  • Hazardous waste materials - aerosol cans, batteries, paint cans (unless paint is dried).

Two Important Reminders Regarding Waste Pick-up

ALL glass, including broken glass, should be placed in with recycling for pick-up on Thursdays. If you do place broken glass in your household garbage, please make sure to wrap all sharp edges to prevent punctures to trash bags and possible injury to the workers.
